My Impetus

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve had to keep a food diary in preparation for seeing a nutritionist today. My diary was a mess, and I know it was incomplete. I was not as rigorous as I should have been, but I looking over what I’d actually remembered to write down, it’s easy to see that I eat a lot. I mean, a lot.

I also had a doctor’s appointment today. Apparently there is nothing wrong with me that exercise and weight loss won’t cure. *sigh* And here I was hoping they would say “aha!, We found this thing, and once we start treating it, you’ll just melt away!” But that never happens, does it?

My cholesterol is fine, and my bad cholesterol isn’t really high, but apparently the particles are sticky, and that is bad. The recommendation: exercise and less animal fats. Since I’m a vegetarian, I guess I should focus on the exercise.

Today was not the best start, I suppose. Once I left the doctor/nutritionist appointment, I had Mexican:
Chimichanga (1) with grilled veggies (spinach, mushrooms, onions, peppers) and topped with melted cheese.
Rice (1/2 cup?)
Beans (1/2 cup?)
Lettuce, tomato, sour cream (1 tbs), and guacamole (2 tbs)
10 chips with salsa
Water

I’m guessing the carbohydrate estimate would be around 130 for this meal, delicious as it was, and the fat and calorie numbers are probably pretty embarrassing.

After lunch, I wandered around Charming Charlie’s (shiny!) then Barnes and Noble. I chose a Terry Pratchett book, settled in, and read about 100 pages before I woke up wondering how long I’d been snoozing. I decided it was time to come home. Before the trip, however, I stopped in Smoothie King and ordered a small Peach Slice Plus. A SMALL has 110 carbs! It was delicious (I do love Smoothie King), but it will certainly remain an occasional treat.

Now I’m waiting for my husband to get home, and I have no idea what I will be eating. I wanted to go ahead and get my first post written, though, while everything’s still quiet. I can’t write with the television on and the dogs jumping around and tearing at the furniture.
